James Stickland is not only an incredibly talented portrait artist, but also a great bloke. I discovered this recently when I commissioned James to paint the most important member of my family, my cocker spaniel Bailey. James was referred to me by the Friends of the Sunshine Coast Regional Art Gallery. James had offered to donate part of the proceeds of my commission to help fund one of the gallery’s milestone events. Such is the standard of Bailey’s portrait that everyone who sees it comments. They all look to read the artist’s name and praise his eerily faithful likeness that completely captures Bailey’s kind and loving nature.
